Todos los rios - All rivers
Explanation of the song
How many men are there in the world today? How many have already lived? How many are still to come? We cannot know. What does surprise us is seeing that this small world is never filled. We are placed in Someone’s hands which are much stronger and safe than those of the men who think they control everything. They shall also pass away and the world will shortly start forgetting them.
There is nothing new under the sun. We think that we do things which have never been seen before. We think that we are the first to reach the great heights of thought and culture and then we read perhaps a few sentences from the 15th or 16th century and we discover that we haven’t invented anything. This song’s lyrics were written over two thousands years ago, but the words amazingly still speak to us today. It reminds us how little man is, always believing he discovers the path that has already been travelled so many times, making illusions about his extraordinary capacity. The kingdom of heaven is for the humble and simple who do not place their trust in the small ideas that cannot save, but rather in God, the author of man’s life and thought. He is the Sea that is never filled. And man can be Everything in Him, while we already know where man can go on his own.
