Elizabeth
Deline - 23
years old
Denver, Colorado (United States)
What do you do now, study or work?
I study Social Communications in Rome.
What is your opinion of the world you’re living in?
It needs to be evangelized. It needs to know Christ.
In a few words, how would you define yourself?
A spoiled sinner who is loved by God (very much).
What is the most characteristic feature of your personality?
I like to laugh, to tell jokes and be told them.
What virtue would you like to possess?
Patience.
Do you consider yourself cowardly or courageous?
When I pray I am more than courageous, otherwise by nature I am a very fearful
person.
What is the center of your life?
The cross of Jesus Christ - with Him upon it.
What do you most want in life?
A Christian husband.
What has Elizabeth been created for?
To know God, to serve Him and love Him with my whole life. To fulfill the prayer
of the Jews (SHEMA!).
Do you think that people today are afraid to make definitive commitments? Why
is this?
Yes, our society is insecure. I don’t blame them because without knowing
the TRUTH there is nothing that remains firm, even “commitments”.
What are young people lacking?
The joy and happiness of life: Jesus Christ.
How can the interior void be filled?
By people giving witness of Jesus Christ in their lives, others will follow.
The blood of the martyrs was not in vain. We need martyrs to be a testimony to
Christ’s love, which is the only thing that can fill the void of humanity.
Do you think that young people have the courage to think? Why?
No. Because the devil exists and doesn’t want man (the young) to think
about life in a true way.
And you, do you dare to think?
Sometimes. When I am suffering a little bit, it is very hard to think. I usually
only worry about my comfort, not the reward of suffering.
What is your program of life?
To live in each moment. To really live, to give my life.
How should a Catholic young person live?
In humility, knowing truly who they are. In simplicity, because this keeps the
devil away; and in praise, always thanking God for what He has done.
Is the faith just something added on?
Well, faith is a gift, an addition to life that is vital to live as a Christian.
Where is the meaning of life found?
“It is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.” St. Francis of Assisi.
TO LOVE, this is the meaning of life.
Are you satisfied with the way you are living?
I hope I will never be satisfied with my way of living because I usually make
a mess of things. I am only at peace when Christ lives my life in and for me.
What defect in yourself would you like to get rid of first?
My pride - always thinking that I am better or superior to others, thus leading
to terrible judgements.
What is the most important lesson you have learned?
That I am not God and that God loves me as I am.
What does it mean to be an apostle?
To be an apostle for Christ means to follow Him unreservedly. To be His servant
and to do His agenda and carry out His word.
What attribute of God impresses you most?
His wonderful sense of humor!
How would you define a young person?
A human being that is at the most important age of life. The time of formation
is the base on which the rest of life depends. A young person is someone who
must leave all behind and seek the TRUTH, as Christ told the rich young man,
to follow Him.
What is your mission as a young person?
To have the surety to put my life in God’s life. TO NOT BE AFRAID…
What is your greatest challenge?
My fear of suffering and the devil who causes me to sin.
What has been the most important event in your life?
My First Holy Communion and, although I don’t remember it, my Baptism.
What would you like to say to young people?
God’s love is better than anything else in the world and it is always waiting
to be received. DO NOT BE AFRAID to accept it!
What do you do to remain standing up in the midst of the world?
I pray…
Do you have a motto for your life?
“Let nothing disturb you; let nothing frighten you. All things pass away;
God never changes.” St. Theresa of Avila.
