Emma
Haynes - 19 years old Lancaster
(England)
What are you doing now?
I am a candidate of the Servant Sisters of the Home of The Mother.
Do you seek God’s will?
I try to seek and do God’s will in everything.
Is it difficult for you to do what God wants?
Sometimes. It used to be more difficult but I think that the more you surrender
to the will of God the easier it is to do it.
Do you believe that you have to try everything in life to be able to afterwards
choose what you want to do?
No! Because then you could spend your whole life trying new things, when the
life that God wanted you to live passed long ago.
What do you do when you are confused?
Pray for guidance from the Holy Spirit and ask Our Lady to help me.
How do you see the past?
As something to remember but not to wallow in.
And the present?
A time to live every minute serving God.
And the future?
Something to look forward to, but not take too seriously because God will take
care of it if you let Him.
For you, what does sincerity mean?
Inner peace and calmness.
Do you believe in the mercy of God?
Yes, I think the Lord is very merciful.
When do you find the most peace?
In adoration in front of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, I think there is great
peace to be found from just spending time with the Lord.
Do you live to fight or do you fight to live?
Live to fight.
Do you consider yourself a joyful person?
Yes.
Do you think about death? How do you see it?
Yes, sometimes. I see it as something that is inevitable for all of us.
What has been the most important moment of your life?
So far, when I entered as a Servant Sister because it was the start of a life
which I am giving completely to God.
What is the best thing that could happen to you?
Live a life that is holy and a life that is full of love for God and all those
around me.
And the worst?
Lose my faith.
What do you understand holiness to be? Is it necessary? Why?
I understand holiness to be something concrete because holiness means to be holy,
but at the same time it is a journey. Yes! It’s necessary because I think
holiness brings you to a closer union with God
How would you explain the sentence from the Gospel that we have to be the light
of the world?
I think that, just as we follow the light that Christ shines in the darkness
for us, the Gospel is telling us that we have to shine a light for others, leading
them to God.
How would you like to present yourself before God?
Here I am Lord, I tried in everything to do your will.
Do you speak with your guardian angel? Do you ask him for help?
Sometimes! Mostly for protection.
Do you have any saint who especially helps you? Which one?
I think my protector saint does. St. Edith Stein.
What is your greatest desire?
To reach the final goal: eternal life in Heaven.
Are you afraid of God?
No, but I know I have to show reverence.
What would you say to someone who is afraid of God?
If you do His will always and live a life searching for sanctity by being faithful
to Him, then there is nothing to be afraid of. The Lord is all Mercy and Love.
For you, who is the Blessed Virgin?
My Mother, my teacher and my model. The Mother of all humanity, and the teacher
and model of all who look to her for guidance.
BRIEFLY COMPLETE THESE SENTENCES:
Every day that begins...is by the grace of God.
It moves me...when I think of how the Lord gave His life for me, for
everyone.
I do not agree with...the disrespect for human life and for God in abortion
and
euthanasia.
If men thought about God...things would be a lot different.
I give you my smile to...pass it on to another person.
It fills me with hope...when I think of how many saints and holy souls there
are praying for us.
Friends are...forever.
With all my heart, I tell you...giving one’s life completely to God isn’t
the end to a life but the beginning.
