Joyful Mysteries
(Mondays and Saturdays)
1st Joyful mystery - The Annunciation
(Luke 1, 26-38)
"Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus."
2nd Joyful mystery - The visitation
(Luke 1, 39-56)
" In those days Mary arose and went with haste into the hill country, to a city of Judah, and she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit and she exclaimed with a loud cry, "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!"
3rd Joyful mystery - The Birth of our Lord
(Luke 2, 1-20)
"And she gave birth to her first-born son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn."
"for to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord."
4th Joyful mystery - The presentation of our lord
(Luke 2, 22-38)
"and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him according to the custom of the law, he took him up in his arms and blessed God and said,
"Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word; for mine eyes have seen thy salvation which thou hast prepared in the presence of all peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to thy people Israel.""
5th Joyful mystery - The finding of our lord in the temple
(Luke 2, 41-52)
"and his mother said to him, "Son, why have you treated us so? Behold, your father and I have been looking for you anxiously." And he said to them, "How is it that you sought me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father's house?"
