Lay Members of the Home of the Mother (L.H.M.)The goal of the Lay Members is to reach holiness for the glory of God, under the maternal protection of Mary. This vocation is born within the Church of the service of the Church. The principles by which they are guided spring forth from the mystery of Christ and His Gospel, as the Church believes, interprets and preaches.

cristo-valenciaThe Lay Members of the Home of the Mother have taken Jesus Christ as the center of their spirituality.  The Home of the Mother is a Eucharistic family and they experience the presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament as a source of love and of action.

In order to reach Jesus Christ, they take a shortest route: Our Lady.  With her ¨Fiat¨, she is a living example of the acceptance of God´s plans in order to participate in the world´s redemption.  Through contemplation of the Blessed Virgin, the Lay Members ratify their unique mission of service to God within the Church.

The Home of the Mother has a Carmelite spirituality, which is a search for union with God through the way of ¨nothingness¨, as taught by St. John of the Cross, and of fidelity to God, inspired by the prophet Elijah´s example.

triciagardnerBeing a part of the Home of the Mother is a path to holiness, a way of being part of the Church.  Being a part of the Home of the Mother in the Church is a calling, a unique vocation.  The Holy Spirit, the author of every work that arises within the Church, is its inspiration and its driving force. He encourages and uplifts the members of the Home so that they truly bring glory to the Trinity.

The Lay Members of the Home take part in the Liturgy, they are aware that they are part of the Church, seeing it as a work of God, and they serve the Church out of love.  They meditate the Sacred Scripture, study the Tradition and Magisterium, accept its moral principals, collaborate with its Ministers, and share its concern for mankind´s problems and progress.  This empathy with the Church leads them to be ready for practical collaboration in working to establish God´s Kingdom.

matrimonioThe Lay Members´ lives are moved by ideals that are the fruit of contemplating Christ and His Gospel.  They read the Bible in light of how the Church understands and teaches about it.  Their lives should be prompted by the law of love.

No matter what they are doing, the Lay Members try to apply the law written on their hearts by the Holy Spirit through Baptism.  The law of love drives them to be open to everyone, trying to help them to discover the richness of our faith and to work for authentic human progress, peace, justice, charity, liberty, and human dignity.

The Lay Members recognize the saints that the Church proposes as faithful friends and examples for their lives.  They ask for the saints´ intercession for themselves and for others, and they especially pray to the Home´s protector and patron saints.  They are aware of the need for personal prayer and for spiritual direction, as an indispensable tool in searching and finding God in everything.
