YouthThe Home of the Mother of the Youth is a group of Christian youth that has begun in the Church and is at her service. Their goal is to follow Jesus Christ and fulfill their three missions:the Defense of the Eucharist, the Defense of the Honor of Our Mother, especially in the privilege of her virginity and the conquest of the youth for Jesus Christ.

lg3 Where do you live?I live in Reno, Nevada.

What do you study?I am currently studying Marketing with a little bit of Communications on the side.

How would you define yourself?Young. Curious. Passionate. Still has a lot to learn.

What attracts you the most about God? That he's always there for us in his infinite love and mercy. Also that his is simple and personal if we really open our hearts to him.

Do the majority of the people live sincerely or give an image of themselves? I would say they give an image of themselves, which I am definitely, of course, guilty of sometimes. Materialism and pride are two huge hindrances in living sincerely. The temptations to giving into these vices are especially potent in Western culture, I believe.

Is thinking necessary? Why? I am finding it more and more necessary to think. There are so many distractions in life, sometimes we forget to think about the important subjects and we lose sight of who we are and what we we’re made for. Thinking in the silence of our hearts is where I think we will start finding some answers.

Do young people today think a lot or a little? In my experience I’d say a little. When there are so many distractions it is so easy to go with the flow and think what everybody else (the world) thinks. When this happens we become lazy and take the wonders of the world for granted.

What do you usually think about?God and his will for me, my friends, my girlfriend, school, work, where my life is going. Lately I’ve been thinking about if I am making the right decisions to live a good and holy life because that’s where my joy will be.

Do you consider yourself a person with imagination?Yes but the world has definitely dulled it a little bit, I’m trying to get it back to full strength.

What would you change about the world?Change the “instant gratification” mind-set.

What do you like about the world? I love the beauty of the mountains and beaches. I also like how you can find good people in every part of the world.lg2

What is the most important lesson you have learned in your life? If you want to be a good Christian you have to live it day-by-day, moment-by-moment otherwise you get wrapped up in everything and it is easier to fall.

If you want to be a good Christian you have to live it day-by-day, moment-by-moment otherwise you get wrapped up in everything and it is easier to fall. Sin is denying God’s love and saying yes to our pride and selfishness.

They say that the “opposite of a saint is a failure”, What do you think about it?Well, that might be put a little harsh, but overall I think it’s a true statement. We’re all meant to go to heaven when we die. As a Catholic, God has put everything down for me to achieve this. All I have to do is cooperate with his teachings and grace and he’ll guide the way.

How does a person mature? A person matures by stepping out of his comfort zone daily, striving to grow in virtue to be the best person he/she can be that day: physically, emotionally, mentally, and we cannot forget spiritually.

Is it necessary to mature as a person?Absolutely. Maturing is a tough grinding process but one that undoubtedly has to be done if we are ever going to feel truly fulfilled in this life.

Suffering helps to mature? Why?Suffering helps to mature by taking away our comforts; totally relying on God and his love and plan for us. Fulton Sheen said, “the law of Calvary is the law of every Christian: unless there is a Cross there will never be the resurrection.” Suffering is both necessary for maturing as well as for salvation.

Do you have experience of suffering? What is that has made you suffer the most? The pleasures of this world has made me suffer the most. God permits this because he wants us to know only he can truly fulfil our hearts.

What is the best thing that has happened in your life? Growing up in a great family, and my brother having a vocation to the priesthood.

Do you expect something? Sometimes, a very good question to think about. Sometimes I go through life thinking if I do this or that, life will be perfect and I’ll get everything I want. That’s not what living the Christian life is about. I have to strive to live in humility in every moment of the day putting my full trust in the Lord in the bad and good times.

What does “to open one’s heart to God” mean?
It means being 100% honest with him and just pouring out everything that’s been stuck in your heart forever and dumping that on him. Then, after you’re done with that, it means listening to him in the silence of your heart day-in and day-out.

What would you like to say to the Lord if you saw Him right now?
Lord, thank you.

I get really excited... when I play sports.
