Brignano Gera D'Adda - Italy
I have been very happily married to Daniele for the past 21 years. We have been living in Brignano since the summer of 2011, the same year that the Sisters of the Home of the Mother came to the town. I grew up in a very simple family with a simple but authentic faith. My father was a humble man and very attentive to the needs of others. My mother suffered since her youth due to an illness, but has always been a woman of great dignity, always ready to accept the will of God without ever complaining. She offered her life for her family every day. We have been blessed in our family to have both an uncle and a cousin who are priests, as well as an aunt who is a religious sister. I still remember the Masses celebrated in the patio of my house with everything adorned with paper flowers. And how during the summer, when my mother sent me to learn how to embroider with Sr. Giuseppina, where besides learning how to embroider, we also learned how to pray the rosary.
During my teenage years, I had a friend whose family had a great devotion to the Blessed Mother. They always spoke of her as if she were living, as if she were another person in the family, close to them and to all that happened to them. Their thoughts always went towards her. I think that it was there that my love for our Blessed Mother was born. While the years passed by and there were many beautiful things, there were also many mistakes. But the most surprising thing is that I have always experienced the hand of our Blessed Mother taking me and bringing me once again to where I should be, and putting special people on my path. That is just how I met the Servant Sisters of the Home of the Mother. When I saw these religious Sisters, so humble and so spiritually strong, I immediately felt attracted to them. I didn’t understand why. And yet being shy, I didn’t do anything to get to know them. However, once again Our Lady inclined towards me and helped me.
One morning, I was at the nursing home and Sr. Rocio came over to me to invite me to a dinner that they were going to have at their house the following Saturday. I immediately accepted, and the Sunday following the dinner, I participated in the meeting with the Home of the Mother lay people.
I have formed a part of the Home of the Mother for about three years now. It is a commitment that I have chosen to make because I experienced it as a gift, a strong calling. By responding, I found that this is my place. I am happy and, moreover, the Home helps me live in the Hearts of Mary and Jesus. It’s like hearing the voice of the Good Shepherd that calls His sheep. I really need the Home so that I can fight the daily battle against rebelliousness, which so often leads me astray. Thanks to the Home of the Mother I have rediscovered Eucharistic adoration, and it is precisely in adoration that I find myself face to face with Jesus – with His love and His mercy. In the Home I experience with such clarity how much Our Blessed Mother loves me, even though I am but a small flower that cannot even be seen in a field full of marvelous flowers.
I am very thankful that the Lord has once again given me the opportunity to fulfill His will for me.
