Lay Members of the Home of the Mother (L.H.M.)The goal of the Lay Members is to reach holiness for the glory of God, under the maternal protection of Mary. This vocation is born within the Church of the service of the Church. The principles by which they are guided spring forth from the mystery of Christ and His Gospel, as the Church believes, interprets and preaches.

Ihave lived in Spain for the last eighteen years and four years ago I came to Cantabria through a friend who lived there. One afternoon, I was with this friend of mine when I saw a group of Servant Sisters of the Home of the Mother. I did not know who they were and my friend introduced them to me. I did not expect to see them again.

Afterwards, in 2016, this same friend of mine called me and mentioned that there was a Catholic magazine for children that I might be interested in subscribing to. I liked the idea and when I was given the name of the Home of the Mother, I looked it up on the Internet and was very impressed by the website.

I had just been looking for a Catholic camp where I could send my send my son, who was eight years old at the time and whose dream was to become a priest. However, we had not found any camp that convinced us. Then, right there on the Home of the Mother’s website there was information about a boys’ camp. I immediately got in touch with them to find out more. I remember Brother Brian was the first person I spoke to. He gave me more information and spoke to me about Catholic Stuff, a program the Home does for young people. That was my first contact with the Home.

Later on, I talked with the Servant Sisters. The first Sisters I talked to were Sr. Eyling and Sr. Beatriz. I was charmed by their friendliness and “smiles,” which I could perceive over the phone.

My son went to the camp on his own. I sent him on a plane from Mallorca to Madrid. That was when he met Fr. José Luis, who picked him up at the airport and Brother Kristian, who helped us organize everything.

After the camp, we went to Cantabria in September. I wanted to meet the Servant Brothers and Servant Sisters in person. I was very touched the first time I met the Home. My son and I fell in love with the Home, so much so that the following year, in February of 2017, with the help of the Lord and Our Blessed Mother, we decided to leave everything in Mallorca so we could follow Christ in the Home of the Mother. We now live in Zurita, near the Home, receiving many blessings.
