Women's Help Center
Note: The building of this center was damaged in the earthquake of 2016. We are currently looking for a new building for our center and directing the women we are in contact with to other similar centers.
The Women’s Help Center of Manabí is a private center in Manabí, Ecuador that welcomes pregnant women who feel uneasy about their pregnancy, or who feel unable or unwilling to be mothers. The goal of the center is to help the women learn to cherish the human life they carry within them and to offer spiritual and, if necessary, material support so that they go forward with their pregnancy.
Women usually learn about the center through the advertisements posted in Ecuador. If a woman decides to call the phone number given in the advertisement, the volunteers set up an appointment with her. She is then received in the Women’s Help Center and is attended personally by our volunteers. During the appointment, the volunteers give correct information about pregnancy and the development of the fetus, and if she is considering abortion, she is informed about the different abortion methods. If the woman so desires, she can see her child and hear the heartbeats through an echography. She is given time for reflection and the volunteers later inform her about the spiritual and material support the center could offer her or, if she is certain that she cannot bring up her child, she is encouraged to consider the possibility of adoption and informed about the adoption process in Ecuador.
