On January 26th we had our monthly girls’ get-together in the Shrine of Our Lady of the Eagle, in Alcalá de Guadaíra, Seville. We wanted to start the year enthusiastic with the desire to adorn our souls with virtues so that when Jesus looks at us, He will be pleased and happy. The girls arrived at 11:30 a.m., we began the get-together with games.
Afterward, we separated into groups and talked about the virtues. We talked about how we have to make an effort to adorn ourselves with virtues and thus beautify our souls for Jesus. We talked especially about perseverance, and we should imitate Valeria, the girl who died in the earthquake in Ecuador along with Sister Clare and the other girls. After the group talks, we had a craft workshop where we made a keychain out of rubber foam, followed by lunch where we had a chance to talk and get to know each other better.
At the end, we went inside the Shrine of Our Lady of the Eagle, where we had time to pray where we consoled the Jesus in the Eucharist and Our Blessed Mother with our prayer, our petitions, acts of reparation, adoration, and our songs.
When we finished praying, we had a game that involved going around the whole Sanctuary. The girls were divided into groups. Each one had a name, chosen by the members, and a cheer to look for the hidden virtues with determination and courage.
At 5:00 p.m. we finished the get-together with a raffle of gifts from the Epiphany parade, donated by the children of a family we know. What a joy to see such generous children!
When the girls left, they were all determined to bring a friend to the next get-together.
