With all of Spain, the Home of the Mother celebrated the renewal of the consecration of the country to the Sacred Heart of Jesus with immense joy. We made the most of this grand and singular opportunity to gather together with all of the members of the Home of the Mother from June 28-30, 2019.
The lay people began to arrive at Loeches during the first two days to begin the encounter. There were about 200 people, of all ages, from the Home of the Mother. On June 29 we had adoration in the morning, and Fr. Rafael spoke to us to give us ideas for prayer. Later, we had a talk about the spirituality of the Sacred Heart by Fr. Matthew Nobrega to help us prepare for the renewal of the consecration. After lunch, we prayed the Rosary walking around the monastery. Afterwards, we watched Juan Manuel Cotelo’s new movie: The Greatest Gift. It is a movie about forgiveness and it helped a lot of people realize that they ought to be more willing and quicker to forgive, like Our Lord who forgives “seventy times seven,” that is, always.
When the movie was over, we went to Alcalá de Henares for Mass and a prayer vigil in preparation for the consecration. Fr. Rafael celebrated, and afterwards we had adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. The Lord in the Holy Eucharist is the best One who could prepare our hearts for the event we were going to participate in the following day, the consecration to His Sacred Heart.
The youth went to the Youth Vigil that took place at the Cerro de los Ángeles [Hill of the Angels]. It was a beautiful night of Eucharistic Adoration with songs and testimonies to show the goodness and power of Our Lord’s Heart. After the prayer vigil, we went back to Loeches to have dinner, talk and go to sleep. The highlight of the get-together was June 30th, the long awaited day.
About 12,000 people from all over Spain who share the burning desire for Spain, and all souls in this dear nation, to continue belonging to the Lord, gathered at the Cerro. The people were exuberant to celebrate such a big event. Neither the heat nor the sun cast a cloud on such an important day for Spain. The Mass, celebrated by Cardinal Carlos Osoro, Bishop of Madrid, was very solemn. With other bishops from Getafe, Toledo and Alcalá de Henares, hundreds of priests, and all the Spanish people, we renewed the consecration of Spain to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It is a consecration that cries, “Heart of Jesus, Spain is still yours,” in the midst of a world that grows darker and darker.
Filled with joy for this gift from Our Lord, we left the Cerro de los Ángeles and went to the Carmelite convent of Aldehuela to have lunch. We had an informal gathering and talked about all of the graces received during the day and shared our impressions.
The weekend was very intense but it was all worth it. It’s obvious that Spain is not dead; it is alive, very alive for it belongs to the Lord. What remains in the Lord and in His love will not die.
Thank You; Lord, for these 100 years of consecration. Thank you for these souls who continue to fight so that Spain may be Yours. We ask to You keep reigning in this land as You have done until now.
