Last weekend we had the opportunity to inaugurate the school year in Valencia in the hands of the Our Lady of the Refuge, whose devotion dates back to 1504, and is currently located in the Royal Monastery of The Holy Trinity, in Valencia.
Like every year, the association Our Lady Refuge of Sinners, organized a triduum preceding the great feast that was held on September 15th. It was a providential coincidence, because it is always celebrated on the third Sunday. This year the triduum began on the Most Holy Name of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and ended with the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows.
During the triduum, the monastery welcomed the devotees of Mary under this title, some of whom have been members of the association since their youth, attending despite the bad weather. The bells rang joyfully on the 15th to call the Valencians to gather around their Mother and Refuge. The Eucharist was presided by Vicente Pons, canon of the cathedral, joined by a representation of the Ukrainian community that visits the monastery regularly. Following we had the procession of the Image by the cloister, and as a farewell, a horchata (a traditional Valencian drink) with donuts, which could not be missing on such a special occasion.
We thank Our Mother for always staying at our side and we trustingly commend the projects of this year and our whole life to Her, knowing that She, Refuge of Sinners, will not fail us. Long live Our Lady, Our Refuge!
