Christmas in Chone, Ecuador

noticia-2-1This year, as in the past years, some of the Sisters from other communities came to participate in our celebration of Christmas in Ecuador. This time, they were Sister Kathryn and Sister Kelly Pezzo, who came from the communities in the United States (Ave Maria and Jacksonville), to spend these special days with us, as we celebrate when Baby Jesus came to live among us. {jcomments on}

noticia-2-3The Sisters were able to visit the soup kitchens for children, where we help distribute the meals, and they also took part in the slaughtering of one of the pigs that would later be fed to the children who come each day (from Monday to Friday) to our soup kitchens.

On December 26, we celebrated Christmas with all the members of the Home of the Mother in Chone and several other friends of ours, who also wanted to join us in celebrating this great feast.

noticia-2-2The activity was held in the Sister's house, at the Parish of “San Cayetano.” At first, we were all inside the house, but as the time passed we became a group of 120 people and had to move out onto the patio. The celebration consisted of a welcoming talk and then a round-table discussion on Pope Benedict XVI's homily at Christmas Eve Mass in the Vatican.

Then, we took all the chairs outside and the candidates did a play that offered some comic relief to the day. Afterwards, we prayed the Rosary while the dinner was being prepared. The day concluded with singing and music performed by the Mackay Family, along with some beautiful dances.
