NewsNews Updates of the Home of the Mother

Category: December

DSCN1943For the weekend of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception (December 5th to 8th), the Servant Brothers together with Fr. Higinio (a friend of the Home) arranged an encounter for boys, members of the Home of the Mother of the Youth. They met up on Saturday night in the "Santa Marta" House in Navalilla, Segovia.

{jcomments on}On Sunday, they had Mass in the Parish of Don Higinio. After Mass they visited the Trappist monastery in Venta de Baños, where the tomb of the recently canonized saint, Rafael Arnaiz, is located. There, a Trappist monk explained the saint's life and talked a little about his writings and the miracles attributed to his intercession, which have been approved for his beatification and canonization. This monk had been the vice-postulator of the cause of canonization of Saint Rafael and he encouraged all the young boys to be holy.

On Monday, due to the rain, there was a change of plans and instead of a hike, the group went to visit the Discalced Carmelites in the Escorial. There, in the chapel, they found themselves face to face with the World Youth Day Cross. The cross had been travelling across Spain in preparation for World Youth Day 2011 in Madrid. The boys took pictures with the cross and prayed the rosary. Whilst praying the rosary, some people came to take the cross to the parish church. This gave our group the opportunity to carry the cross into the truck. Like this, providentially, the Home of the Mother could make itst own procession with the Cross that the Holy Father had given to the Spanish Youth for the next World Youth Day. While in Segovia, they also visited the aqueduct.También visitamos el acueducto en Segovia.

On the feast day of the Immaculate Conception, the group went to Mass at the Parish of Fr. Higinio. The desire for Holiness was the "theme" of these days. During the encounter, the Brothers spoke a lot about surrender to God and the relationship with Our Lady.
