Happy Feast of Saint Nicholas! - From Fabero

As December 6th was the Second Sunday of Advent this year, we could not celebrate the Mass for Saint Nicholas, the patron of our parish in Fabero, Spain. But, neither did we want this great saint to be completely forgotten. The children from the catechism classes preparing for their First Communion (in Spain, they are usually 4th-graders) enthusiastically prepared a little play that was shown before Sunday Mass that day.

The moments leading up to the play were preceded by the nervousness that even the professionals feel before they go out on stage. One of the two narrators arrived on the scene right before the play, another character never showed up, but – thanks be to God – one of the children had learned all the parts of the play during the practice sessions and was able to act out his third role like a professional. The play was also marked by a bit of comic relief, thanks to the forgetting of lines and the dramatic representations performed by these little “great” actors. A round of applause to them all!

We are sure that Saint Nicholas had to have a laugh from Heaven watching them all!

To top it off, four of our “actors” later carried out another service in the parish, as altarboys in the Mass.
