On September 26, 2009 in the Cathedral of Cuenca, Spain, Brother José Javier Martíns de Passos and Brother Reinhard Fuchsluger, Servant Brothers of the Home of the Mother, were ordained priests by Bishop José María Yanguas. The first of the two is Spanish and the second Austrian. Both of them entered the Servant Brothers in 2001.
We met Fr. Jose Javier on a pilgrimage to Fatima with the Servant Brothers. He felt called to enter with them. He had been very involved in Catholic Action in Cuenca, where there also was a consecrated branch, but God called him to us. He spoke about it with his spiritual director, who with great generosity, let "a good and valuable man" go. A few days after his ordination he took off for the new foundation of the Servant brothers in Nicaragua.
When we think of Fr Reinhard we remember his look of suprise when Father Rafael in the church of "San Nicolás de Bari" in Priego asked him in French, "Are you the one that wants to become a priest?" He wasn't expecting it. But Father was convinced that this "young vagabond" with long hair, pointed beard and an earring in his left ear, was more than that, someone who was looking for something to fill him within abd give meaning to his life. A few years have gone by since then and now he is a priest who has commited his life to Christ to continue building the Christian civilization
The two priests are a gift from the Lord for the Home of the Mother and the whole Church. And we ask that in this year dedicated to priests the Lord sends holy and wise priests to sanctify, rule, and govern the flock that the Lord has entrusted to them. Let us give thanks to God!
