About 180 people got together for the Thanksgiving Retreat held from November 27th to 30th in Fruitland Park, FL, located between Ocala and Orlando, at "Camp Lake Geneva".
The theme which was the center of our reflections was Pope Benedict XVI's encyclical: "Caritas in Veritate". The three talks given by Fr Henry, Greg Archambault and David Tomasiky helped us to become aware of our responsibility in society and invited us to be the "salt of the earth" and the "light of the world", placing Christian charity at the center of our lives.
As always, our first love in the Home, the Eucharist, had the place of honor in our retreat. In the presence of the Blessed Sacrement we meditated on the inspiring words of our founder, Fr Rafael, who never ceases to awaken our conscience, which often falls asleep and seeks what is most comfortable.
It was a grace and privilege to have 4 priests present in our retreat. They each took turns in preaching the homilies.
An important event that we would like to highlight was the discovery of a foosball "table", designed for human beings! Since it is difficult to explain this in words, we'll include a picture to give you an idea. Immediately we set out to play a game in which the very professional participation of the Servant Sisters stood out and quickly drew the attention of many spectators! Many others also lined up for their turn to play.
We finished our retreat with a magnificent festival. All those who attended the retreat, without exclusion, contributed their often quite comical ideas, making them a reality on the stage. We had a great time!
