During the visit of Father Rafael, Mother Ana and Sister Montse to our communities in Ecuador, around 160 people got together for an encounter in Playa Prieta. Most were members of the Home of the Mother and the encounter took place from November 21st to 22nd.
Upon arriving, Fr. Rafael gave an inspiring talk for meditation, inviting us to total generosity and to abandon mediocrity, which is a great danger in our spiritual life. Afterwards we had a wonderful meal which was prepared with great love by our "mothers". They are true experts in the kitchen and they always give everything the finishing touch.
At the feet of the statue of Our Lady, located in the centre of the courtyard of the "Sagrada Familia" School, we all prayed the rosary. After finishing, we received the visit of Bishop Lorenzo Voltolini, archbishop of Portoviejo, Manabi, who is like a father and shepherd to us and a close friend of the Home of the Mother. He gave us his blessing and encouraged us to continue forward in our task of evangelization in these Ecuadorean lands. Then we gathered at the Church for the celebration of the Eucharist. It was a very special day because, during the celebration, Fr. Rafael presided over the marriage of Darius and María José, members of the Home.
During the ceremony we had the grace to attend the entrance into the Servant Sisters of Alejandra Medina, as a candidate, and Elena, as aspirant. Both were previously members of the Home of the Mother of the Youth in Chone. And as if that were not enough, Julio and Nargis, adult members of the Home in Chone, celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary. They renewed their wedding vows, taking advantage of the founder's presence.
Congratulations to everyone!
After this "explosion of graces", we had a meeting and shared our experiences. Then we had a simple celebration in the schoolyard and were all filled with enthusiasm for our vocation, after watching the Home of the Mother presentation video. Then off to bed! It was about time!
We began the next day, the Lord's day, with a time of prayer in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament and then we had Mass, where Dulce and Maite entered as candidates of the Servant Sisters. Dulce belonged to the Home's youth group in Chone and Maite to the group in Playa Prieta. When Mass finished, some members renewed their commitments to the Home and others made them for the first time. Welcome to the Home! Many were also enrolled in the brown scapular.
We cannot end this article without mentioning the magnificent onions prepared by Gema's parents, who brought the encounter to an end with a very good taste.
