HM Encounter in Canada

On the last weekend of October, an encounter of the Home took place in London, Canada. The sisters currently in the community of Ave Maria, Florida, flew to Detroit, Michigan, where they were picked up by Jaime Arturo, member of the HM Community of Adults, who took them to London.

The get-together started on Friday afternoon for the young people. 23 young people were present. Following dinner, an opening talk was given and all present prayed the Rosary with songs. The evening ended with "good night" talk. There was no snow but the temperatures were low.

On Saturday morning, there was Mass and prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. After Mass, the priest offered to hear the confessions of all those who so desired. During the day  different activities took place in two separate groups, divided by age. There were arts and crafts, videos, and games. The older age group (between 13 and 18 years of age) watched a video on the priesthood and were very touched. Some said that it had made them realize that if those called by God to be priests didn't respond, we wouldn't have the sacraments.

In the evening there was a torchlight procession, with the recitation of the Rosary. The wind and cold put a comic note to the procession, as the torches were extinguished and there was constant chattering of teeth. But they offered the Rosary to Our Lady in reparation for all the offenses and sins committed on that night.

On Sunday the group celebrated All Saints Day. On this day the adults joined the encounte. Mass was followed with a meeting on the Home of the Mother with adults, whilst the children and young people played outside. In the afternoon the little ones offered everyone a "Saint Festival". Each one was dressed up as a saint and said a bit about the life of the saint. Afterwards the group prayed the Rosary and at the end some renewed their commitments in the Home. It was a very special day, Our Mother was very present.

A big "thank you" to Jaime Arturo, María Consuelo and the entire Home of the Mother community in London, Canada. You have worked so generously for the Home. May the Lord and Our Lady bless you all!
