Get-together with young girls in Mostoles, Spain

In Mostoles, Spain we had our first get-together this school year with younger girls on October 22nd, 2001 at Our Lady of the Rosary and of Hope´s Parish.  More than 45 girls – between the ages of 7 and 13 – came.

We began at noon with dynamic games and songs with hand motions to get everyone going.  Afterwards, we went to the chapel to say hi to the Lord and Our Mother of heaven.  We began by learning a song: ¨Hail Mary, your heart is my shelter every day¨, from the CD of the Home of the Mother´s Children Songs called ¨Thank You, God¨.  After the song, we got ready to do arts and crafts, which, on this occasion, was a baking workshop.  We started off by making chef hats (everyone looked great!) and then...we got baking!  Our girls made some wonderful chocolate truffles that were absolutely delicious.  As we let the dough stand, we ate lunch – since the smell of chocolate made us hungry.

After lunch, we started to play!  We had a scavenger hunt where we went around the whole parish overcoming different obstacles until we reached the last door; the entire course was really fun.  Whenever the girls won a challenge, we gave them part of a secret message that they had to put all together in the end; later, they discovered that the message had been left by the Angel of Fatima; he wanted to teach them the same prayer that he had taught to Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta: ¨My God I believe, I adore, I hope, and I love You.  I beg pardon for all those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope, and do not love You.¨

We went back to the chapel to pray a decade of the rosary and to console the Heart of Our Lady, as the children of Fatima had done, asking for peace in the world and for the conversion of sinners, since our girls now know that childrens´ prayers are the most powerful.

The truffles still had to be wrapped – in a very cool way, of course – in order to suprise their parents and then we had a short reunion where we talked about how important obedience is.  With a few more active games, time ran up; it was already 5 o´clock in the afternoon and the moms and dads were waiting at the door for their daughters.

We said goodbye until the next get-together, which will be held, if God wants, on Saturday, November 19th, 2011 in Our Lady of the Rosary and of Hope´s Parish.  It will start at noon.  We hope that all the girls that come are ready to spend a day having a good time and growing closer to the Lord!
