Last Saturday, November 12, members and friends of the Home of the Mother in the Tampa Bay Area came together for their monthly Family Encounter.
The Tampa group meets every second Saturday of the month at a home in Dade City. The Servant Sisters from the Jacksonville community and three candidates traveled to spend the afternoon with the Tampa group.
After a potluck lunch was shared, the group split up for talks by the Servant Sisters. Sr. Kelly gave the adults a talk about the gifts of the Holy Spirit. After reviewing each of the gifts, using Fr. Leo Trese's The Faith Explained as a guide, Sister outlined some ways we can cooperate with these gifts, making them more abundant in our lives. The talk was followed with lots of questions and discussion.
Sr. Kathryn spoke to the younger children about the danger of lukewarmness, being able to recognize and fight against it. She shared ideas about how they can be passionate about their faith and love for the Church..
After the talks, the group met outside in front of the statue of the Blessed Mother and prayed the Rosary together. Before everyone parted, Sr. Kelly and Sr. Kathryn told the group they would be moving to Spain shortly after the Thanksgiving Retreat. Of course, everyone will miss them very much but recognize this as God's Will -- and look forward to meeting the two new sisters who will come to Jacksonville soon.
