The Joy God Brings

A group of girls from different parts of Spain came together with two communities of the Servant Sisters from Getafe and Valencia for the All Saints´ Day long-weekend vacation.  We had a get-together in Torrent, at the Dominican Mothers´ Bethlehem Monastery, which the Servant Sisters of the Home of the Mother are currently living in, close to Valencia, Spain.  We all had a great time!

We arrived in Valencia on October 29th, 2011 for lunch, and for the afternoon, in the middle of a huge storm, which was a sign of all the graces that we were to going to receive in the get-together, we visited the cathedral and basilica where we could see the statue of Our Lady of the Abandoned, the Patroness of Valencia.  It was really nice to be able to start the get-together by praying to Our Lady and placing in her hands everything that was in our hearts.

When we got back home, we got to work getting a delicious dinner ready and then afterwards, the Sisters suprised the girls with a fun ¨H.M. Show¨, in which we played, talked about deep subjects, thought about things, remembered WYD Madrid 2011, and lots more.

The next day, we had a chance to pray, go to confession, learn new songs, do arts and crafts (in which we made a rosary bracelet), and then we had a yummy barbeque for lunch.

In the afternoon, we had a movie showing, where we saw the film ¨Fireproof¨, which helped us to reflect some more.  Later, Father Rafael, who had arrived from Rome that same morning in order to spend a few days with us and to help us grow spiritually, celebrated mass.  Thank you, Father!

That night, we played a nighttime game throughout the monastery.  It was very exciting and ¨spooky¨.  When the game was over, we said good night to Jesus and headed off to bed.

On Monday, our last day together, the Sisters prepared an awesome obstacle course where we had to show the abilities and talents that we had in order to overcome the difficult challenges that we had to pass through.  After lunch, we went to visit the Dominican Mothers in Torrent.  We talked with them, telling them all about what we had been doing the past few days, and sang for them, etc.   They were very happy that we had come to visit.  At the end, before we left, they invited us to a snack, with sweets, shakes...  Thank you, Dominican Mothers!

When we got home, we had time for prayer in order to talk with Jesus, then we had dinner and some time afterwards to heard Fr. Rafael tell jokes.  We laughed so hard that night!

Unfortunately, Tuesday came around, the day that we had to leave.  After breakfast, we celebrated Mass and...goodbyes were said with hugs and tears.
´Till next time, girls!  We had a great time!!

Thank you to everyone and above all, thanks be to Our Lord!  We´ll see you at the next get-together...
