Last Saturday, December 10th, the members of the Home of the Mother Tampa community met with the Servant Sisters from Jacksonville for the monthly Family Encounter.
The community was able to meet and welcome Sr. Grace and Sr. Megan, whom many had not met before. We had a potluck lunch followed by a talk for the older teenagers and adults by the sisters.
In the talk, Sr. Grace shared what the Home had done over the summer. We talked about the summer camps, the entrance to the novitiate, and the vows ceremony. We were also able to view photos from the H.M. website. Then we heard about World Youth Day, and some of the girls who went were able to share their experiences. We watched videos that the sisters made for World Youth Day, and Sr. Megan told her experience working on the official WYD webpage.
Afterwards, we learned of the plans and projects that the Home is involved in. We discussed Móstoles and the work that is going on there. We talked about Casa Maravillas, the house that the sisters want to build there. The sisters showed us the cartoon that they made on the Spanish H.M. webpage that reveals what their plans are for the house. We discussed the upcoming Holy Land pilgrimage and lastly, we watched the video the Servant Brothers made about Las Presillas, their house in Spain.
We ended the meeting by praying the rosary before the statue of Our Lady. It was a wonderful opportunity to reunite with the sisters and the other lay people of the Home!
