Last Saturday, on April 21st, 2012, we – the community of Servant Sisters in Alcalá de Guadaira (Seville, Spain) – had a get-together for young girls and teenagers. Thankfully, Our Lady sent us a beautiful, sunny day, even though the sky had been threatening all week long, so that this time we could go to a park in Oromana, a scenic site close to the river. 42 girls showed up, despite the fact that many weren´t able to come because of their First Communion.
We are so happy for them and we are praying that Jesus gives them the grace to always stay close to Him and to continue to have the same desire – or even more – of receiving Him in the Eucharist.
On April 25th, we the Servant Sisters of the Home of the Mother here in Brignano (Bergamo, Italy) opened our convent doors, welcoming people for a H.M. Family Encounter. The idea came from the adults who had participated in our Holy Week Encounter and wanted to celebrate the Easter season united to Jesus in the Eucharist.
The Home of the Mother celebrated its 8th annual Holy Week Encounter in the U.S., in Orange Springs, Florida. During the encounter, we were about 130 people altogether. For a number of them, it was their first time attending a Home of the Mother Encounter.
Once again, H.M. members got together at the Our Lady of Bethlehem Dominican Monastery (located on the outskirts of Valencia, Spain) to celebrate Holy Week together. The encounter started on Ash Wednesday afternoon with the celebration of the mass, presided by the Home of the Mother´s Founder, Fr. Rafael Alonso.
This year we celebrated the third annual Home of the Mother Holy Week Encounter in Lumezzane, Italy.
For some of the adults and young people who attended the encounter, it was the first time that they celebrated Holy Week with the Home of the Mother. We opened the Encounter on the evening of Holy Thursday with a commencement talk given by Sister Teresa. The theme this year was the Second Vatican Council Pastoral Constitution ¨Gaudium et Spes,¨ which talks about the Church in the modern world.
This year’s Holy Week Encounter in Ecuador began with the Chrism Mass on Holy Thursday in the Portoviejo Cathedral, celebrated by Archbishop Lorenzo Voltolini. Over 100 priests from the diocese all concelebrated, including Fr. Juan, Servant Priest of the Home of the Mother. The Archbishop spoke about the new evangelization; he encouraged us not to be afraid and to share Christ with the world. His homily was providential because it fit in perfectly with this year’s theme for the Holy Week Encounter: evangelization.
Sr. Eva Luz González : I know that Sr. Clare has already begun her mission here on earth, especially by reminding each consecrated soul that God alone suffices, and that we must dedicate ourselves to Him with all of the strength of our heart.
