"My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord…for He has looked with favor His lowly servant." (Lk 1:46.48)
This phrase from Scripture was the theme that Brother José Luis Saavedra, Servant Priest of the Home of the Mother from Cuenca (Spain), had chosen for his priestly ordination, celebrated by His Excellency Bishop. José Mª Yanguas, the Bishop of Cuenca, in the cathedral of this Spanish city. The solemn ceremony took place at 11 in the morning on Saturday, June 23rd. After mass, a traditional symbolic act took place, where the faithful who so wish can come up one by one to kiss the hands of the newly ordained priest. At the end of the mass, the now Father José Luis imparted his blessing on all those present.
A town called Albalate de las Nogueras (in Cuenca) was honored with Fr. José Luis´ first mass at Assumption Parish the day after his ordination. The mass was well-attended and also took place at 11 A.M.
Both acts were celebrated afterwards with a delicious lunch prepared at St. Michael of the Victory Monastery in Priego (Cuenca, Spain). Thanks be to God that He still sends workers into His vineyard and thanks be to God as well for al those who, having been chosen, freely wish to respond to this divine election.
Thanks be to God.
