Last weekend, for the first time this year, we had a day encounter for girls in Zurita, Cantabria (Spain). 11 girls came from Santander and Torrelavega.
The girls began to arrive at 10:30 a.m. While waiting for the rest to come, we went off to admire God´s creation, taking a walk through the sisters´ garden. We took advantage to pick blackberries and strawberries, which later on would be used to make a dessert. At twelve o´clock everyone had arrived.
To start off the day, we all went to the grotto of the Virgen, remembering her "Yes" while praying the Angelus. Then we went to the chapel to visit the Blessed Sacrament and pray for a short while. Later on we had a group meeting in which we talked about Our Lady of the Rosary, which was celebrated on October 7th, remembering how Our Mother Mary helps us to conquer all our battles against the enemy. We made the commitment to pray every day at least three Hail-Mary´s. We commented also about the Year of the Faith, that will start on October 11th, and about the need to prepare ourselves well for this event, with a spiritual shower, receiving the sacraments often and studying the doctrine of our faith.
After the meeting we divided ourselves into two groups to prepare lunch. The younger ones made the dessert with the fruit we had collected and the older ones made the lunch.
Once we finished eating, we made a small pilgrimage to visit Our Lady in the town church. While walking to the church, we prayed the rosary with a rosary that we had made ourselves earlier on that day.
When we arrived at the Church, to our surprise, we found it open. It is not normally open at that time. We were excited to enter and say hi to Our Mother, the Blessed Virgen. Since they were cleaning the Church, we went out to finish the rosary in front of a statue of the Virgen that is outside of the Church, with a very special intention in our hearts: that the Lord may grant us during this year an increace in our faith. Later we returned home singing and saying ejaculatory prayers to Our Lady. Upon arriving, we found waiting for us a delicious snack.
Afterwards, we had time gor games and for crafts, in which we made a small pocket book about the rosary. We finished off the encounter giving thanks to Our Lady of the Rosary for this great day.
