Dos Hermanas is a city close by the community of Servant Sisters in Alcalá de Guadaíra (Seville, Spain). Since September, the Servant Sisters of the Home of the Mother have been collaborating with the Parish of Our Lady of the Olive Tree, that has about 40,000 parishoners.
On Saturday, November 10, we had the first get-together for girls. In all, 26 girls, between 6-14 years old, came.
We began at 11:30 by introducing ourselves and singing a few songs with hand-motions. Afterwards, we had a time of prayer in the Church to offer the day to the Lord and to Our Lady. Later we played several games, working up an appetite. At 1:45 we sat down to eat our sandwiches in the sunny patio.
It was a beautiful day, with sun from the morning until the afternoon, in spite of the fact that it had been raining for several days, and that the forecast for that day was more rain. The sun was truly a gift from Our Lady!
After lunch we had a meeting: the older girls in one group, and the smaller ones in another. We spoke about friendship and holiness, respectively. Later we did arts and crafts, in which we braided some wool octopuses, which turned out to be very pretty. And by 5 p.m. the parents had arrived to pick them up.
For the first get-together, we believe that they left very happy. Many were already anxious to know when the next one would be. If it is God´s will, we will have the next get-together on December 8th, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception.
