On Saturday, December 29th, the young men of the parish of Our Lady of Loreto went to the Foundation "House of the Suffering Men" in Ecuador.
The week before, the girls visited the home with the Sisters, and on the 29th, the Servant Brothers went with the boys of the parish. We brought the joy of Christmas to the sick and we also received the great joy of being able to serve the Lord in the poor and needy with care and love. Although we had wanted to bring them joy, we were the ones who received it.
Many of the patients of the Foundation "House of the Suffering Men" are terminally ill. Some have been abandoned by their own families. Many will die there.
The co-founder, Sr. Elsa, gave us a tour of the foundation, and afterwards we sang Christmas songs and spoke with the elderly and the sick to help console them in their suffering. We were able to bring them joy and make them smile in this Christmas season.
After visiting them and being with them, we went to the chapel, situated in middle of the property of the House of the Suffering Men. There we prayed a rosary with Christmas songs, singing to the Child Jesus, Consolation of all the needy.
The youth committed themselves to do a work of mercy at least once a month as a youth group. “Whatever you do for one of these least brothers of Mine, you do for Me”, says the Lord.
