Columbus Catholic Women’s Conference

DSC_0205The Columbus Catholic Women’s Conference (CCWC) was held on Saturday, February 23rd, in the Ohio Expo Center.

The CCWC announced a new opportunity this year for girls ages 10-17 during the 2013 conference: a day retreat hosted by the Servant Sisters of the Home of the Mother.

The retreat started with registration, followed by a Mass with over 2,000 women from the CCWC, celebrated by Bishop Campbell of Columbus, Ohio.

After the Mass, the Servant Sisters took the group of about 65 girls (ages 10-17 yrs. old) to the nearby Rhode’s building, where they had breakfast and an introduction to the retreat. During the retreat, there were songs, talks, Eucharistic adoration, and confession, along with other activities. The theme of the retreat was “My Heart: The Holy Spirit’s Home. Celebrating the Year of Faith”. The talks and activities of the day were focused on having the girls recognize that they are temples of the Holy Spirit and how they should take care of this gift in their lives through prayer, confession, and by living the virtues. At the end of the retreat, the girls, the chaperones, and the Servant Sisters joined together with the rest of the CCWC.  The girls shared a song that they had learned during the retreat with all of the women present. Afterwards, everyone prayed together the Divine Mercy Chaplet, sung by the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist.

The Columbus Catholic radio station asked a few of the girls to conduct a live interview to share some of the retreat highlights. The girls agreed that the best part of the retreat was being able to spend time with the Lord in Eucharistic Adoration. We hope that the girls continue to remember the graces received from the retreat.
