Girls' get-together in Rome (Italy), November 23rd, 2013.

Last Saturday, November 23rd, we had a get-together for girls in Rome.  The girls began to arrive at about 10 a.m., and we had a short time of games and songs with hand motions while we waited for the rest of the girls to arrive.

Once everyone arrived, we went to the chapel, where the girls were able to enjoy the presence of Jesus, to adore Him and express their love to Him.

Sister Teresa spoke to them about the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist and gave some short points of meditation to reflect about advent and above all how to prepare our hearts for the coming of the Lord.  We had a moment of silence before the Blessed Sacrament exposed in the tabernacle.

When we finished adoration, we went to make a dessert... we rolled up our sleeves.. and the result was  a bunch of delicious chocolate cookies that we made into different animal shapes usind molds.  When we finished there was chocolate everywhere!

Then we played some fun games and watched a video about the Annunciation of the Archangel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary, to help us to reflect on Advent.  The time flew by and we were feeling hungry.  So we sat down to eat our sandwiches and, of course, our delicious chocolate cookies.  They turned out great!  We left some for snack time later.

During arts and crafts, we made an advent calender with Sr. Paulette and Sr. Sara Maria, who prepared a resolution for each day of advent.  In this way, every day there is something different to offer to Jesus and prepare our heart for His coming.  Everyone enjoyed making the calender, and was happy to know what it was for.

When we finished our craft, we went to play a game with Sr. Morgan.  The name of the game was: "How to be a true Christian." It consisted in rolling two dice, one with numbers and one with letters, to advance by winning different trials, games and catechism questions.   We all had a lot of fun, and at the same time, it was a good opportunity to remember things from the catechism and to learn some new things.

Later on we had a meeting.  Sr. Maria Luisa gave three key words to prepare our hearts for the birth of Jesus: pray, give, and renounce.  We talked about them and she gave us three examples of children who have lived them heroically.  Nenolinna was the example of prayer, Carlo Acutis of generosity with God and with others and Francisco Marto of sacrifice.

Lastly, we snacked on our favorite chocolate cookies and played for a bit while we waited for the parents to come.
