Get-together for girls in Rome (Italy), 7 de marzo de 2015
On Saturday March 7, 2015 we organized a get-together for girls in Rome. Along with the littler girls, a 15 year old named Camilla came to help us with the activities. The activities began with a song with hand motions. The girls loved it and we continued singing it during the rest of the day.
We made sure to go to the chapel and offer the day to the Lord and Our Lady. A Sister spoke to them about how God created us out of love and has a plan for each of us to make us happy. She explained that each of us should ask God what His plan is so that we can fulfill it.
When they had finished praying, the girls made delicious chocolate mice out of nutella, cookies, cream cheese, M&M ears and licorice tails. They were proud of their little mice! After they finished their mice, they played games until lunchtime.
After lunch we played a game to test their skills and discover their natural qualities. Each step in the game corresponded to a different profession or vocation. We made two teams and each team won points according to their ability to do each task. The first task was to find out whether the girls could be good architects. Each team had to draw the blueprint of a big house. Both teams did well and made sure to include many details. The next task was to test their skills in medicine. They had to bandage a twisted ankle and respond to several questions about the human body. They also had to solve simple math problems to see if they could be economists, and follow traffic signs while driving their “vehicles” to see if they could be chauffeurs. In the last step of the game they had to make a missionary cross out of two sticks and a cord to test their missionary skills.
After singing and playing a little more, we had a group discussion about Lent. One of the Sisters explained how to live Lent as good Christians. Afterwards we had time for arts and crafts. The girls each made a little piggy bank to save money to give to the poor this Lenten season.
We entrust these girls to Our Lady; may she bless and keep them and help them to do good in their lives.
