Pilgrimage walk to Schoenstatt. Departing from the parish of Loreto in Guayaquil (Ecuador), May 1, 2015.
A good way to begin the month of May is to make a pilgrimage to visit a Shrine of Our Lady. That's what we did this last May 1st in the Home of the Mother.
We gathered together in the parish of Our Lady of Loreto, Guayaquil, at 7 in the morning. We did a prayer and from there we went walking up to the Schoenstatt Shrine. On our way there we were praying the rosary and singing to the Virgin Mary. At a certain point, the police stopped us and asked us where we were going, because we were a big group of people and we were spilling all over the street, and the police had no knowledge of this activity. We replied that we were going to Schoenstatt on a pilgrimage since we were in the month of May; we thought they were going to say something for having done this without permission, but instead they told us: "Then we will stay with you because you need protection so that nothing happens to you" and so they came with us the rest of the way in their patrol car escorting us and helping with traffic. When we arrived, we sang the typical "thank you" song and they told us to let them know when we needed anything and that they would be happy to help us. They were very kind and we are very grateful.
Once there, we split into groups and the first thing we did was to play a game of soccer. Afterwards, we had a meeting to talk about the Virgin Mary and we ate in groups. After talking, eating and various dynamics, we had the final game which consisted in forming a rosary. To do this we were divided into five groups representing the five mysteries of the rosary. Each group started with an empty rope that had to be filled with the ten Rosary beads and for this they had to overcome ten tests which allowed them to win balls that had to be inserted into their rope. We finally got to form the complete Rosary, although for some it was hard to get the 10 balls.
As a farewell, we all went to the Shrine and there we did the consecration of the family to the Virgin Mary. And with this spiritual brooch we returned home.
