Festival for youth with religious from all over the country, November 21st of 2015 in Jacksonville, Fl.
The community of Servant Sisters in Jacksonville, FL, USA is helping the Diocese of St. Augustine host the FIAT FESTIVAL. The idea originated when the Servant Sisters put on the Fiat Festival for the first time back in 2009. What is the Fiat Festival? The word “fiat” is Latin, literally meaning “Be it done”. It is the “yes” of Mary at the Annunciation. The Fiat Festival therefore is a response to Pope Francis’ call to religious sisters, brothers and priests to “wake of the world” with their testimony of faith, holiness and hope.
On November 21st, 2015 the parish communities of the Diocese of St. Augustine will come together to celebrate the Fiat Festival as part of the Year of Consecrated Life. It is a one-day event that harmonizes prayer with a variety of awesome activities such as talks from national speakers, break-out sessions with members of religious communities, adoration, confession, Mass and the “Ignite the Fire” fest featuring live music, films and personal testimonies. All high school students and young adults (ages 18-25) are invited.
Religious priests, brothers and sisters from different states and countries are coming to share their testimony with the youth and young adults who will be present. The Commission for Religious and the Vocations Office of the diocese have been sending out invitations to all the communities in the diocese and various communities around the country and the world such as: Franciscan Friars and Sisters of the Renewal, Dominican Sisters, Mary Mother of the Eucharist, Dominicans of St. Cecilia, Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matara, Servants of the Pierced Hearts of Jesus and Mary, Sisters of Life and the Servant Brothers and Sisters of the Home of the Mother.
The Fiat Festival is an amazing opportunity for young people to come in contact with many Religious Brothers, Priests and Sisters and it is an opportunity that invites them to ask God what He wants of them.
