Pilgrimage from Guayaquil (Ecuador) to Cajas, Azuay (Ecuador), September 13, 2015.
Our Lady invited us to go visit her, and we just couldn’t decline! We made announcements in our parish for two Sundays, and people just kept signing up until we filled three buses and three vans.
We set out from the parish of Loreto at 6 am. We stopped for breakfast in a gas station and then continued on our journey to Cajas, a shrine dedicated to Our Lady in the Ecuadorian province of Azuay.
When we arrived, we had a moment of prayer before the grotto of Our Blessed Mother, where we prayed the rosary and sang songs. It was a very special moment and Our Lady made her presence felt among us.
Then we celebrated Mass at 12:15 in the chapel, and Our Lady continued to pour out her graces in our hearts.
After Mass, since there were so many of us, we had to spread out all over the surrounding fields and even up on the mountain, setting up our own “dining rooms” for lunch.
We ended our pilgrimage to Cajas praying the Stations of the Cross and then headed back towards Guayaquil.
The truth is, Our Lady is so good to us and she always encourages us to carry on and continue following her Son, Jesus. We just have to make the resolution to listen to her and get down to work!
