CCD Retreat in Our Lady of Loreto, Guayaquil (Ecuador) on September 5th.
We organized a retreat with the theme “To reach heaven” in the CCD program of Our Lady of Loreto.
On Saturday, September 5th, we met outside the church at 8 am with all the students from CCD and we divided up into three groups:
The boys went to a fabric factory which has really big soccer fields and plenty of room to run. They spent the whole day there until 4 pm when they returned to the parish.
The little girls from the first and second year of 1st Communion preparation went with their teachers to the Condor fields (close to the parish) and had prayer, games, a meeting and lunch there.
The last group, all of the girls from the Confirmation class, went to the Schoenstatt Shrine. The first thing they did was a half hour of prayer—meditating on the path God has given us to get to heaven, the 10 Commandments. Then they split up into groups and played a two-part game of questions and then challenges in memorization, skits and songs.
The talk was very interesting as it was based a dream of St. John Bosco—the one about the white handkerchief. This dream is about how Our Lady gives us a white, beautiful handkerchief which we have to care for so that it doesn’t get dirty or torn in the storms. This handkerchief represents purity and the storms are temptations against it.
After eating lunch, the retreat was finished off by seeing the “Mary’s Land” video, and the returning to the parish.
