Get-together for girls in Macael (Almeria), Spain, from December 7th-8th, 2015.
Our get-together began on December 7th in the morning, and while we were waiting for the whole gang to arrive we decided to get warmed up by playing some games. Then, we warmed up our hearts and stopped by the chapel to have prayer time with the Blessed Sacrament.
One of the sisters gave us points of meditation about the trust that we all must have in Our Lady, because if one is consecrated to Her they will never be lost. After that, the house turned into a medieval sewing parlor where we put together some very cool costumes which we would have their debut later that night in the party that we had in honor of the Immaculate one.
At lunch time we brought out all the exquisite food that that girl’s mothers had prepared for the special occasion.
In the afternoon we had time for arts and crafts in which we made a Nativity Scene with tissue paper and sticker paper. It was a very delicate craft and required much effort and patience in order for it to turn out well.
After the craft it was snack time. Having regained energy we had more games and then we all got ready to go to Mass together. After mass we had a candlelit rosary procession for the feast day of the Immaculate Conception. For the procession, we took the statue of Our Lady which the sisters have in their chapel and we carried her on a platform between the girls and the sisters through the streets of Macael. When we returned home, some started preparing dinner while others finished the medieval costumes designed for this special occasion.
We ate dinner in the dining room which was presided by the image of Our Lady and after dinner we started the great tournament which would help prepare us to be true defenders of the Immaculate. We had to overcome a series of challenges that would allow us to gain the title of “Protectors of the Immaculate One” and allow us to belong to her army. When the tournament finished we consecrated ourselves to Our Lady and each girl promised to be Her property and defend our Lady always We ended the night by singing the Salve Regina with our whole heart.
The next day, after prayer before the Blessed Sacrament and with points of meditation about Our Lady, we saw a video calle “The Last Gift”, which we liked a lot and helped us see the importance of looking less at ourselves and more at others. We also realized that so many times we give importance to things that are not at all important and we lose sight of what’s really important, even though it may seem small. After lunch, we had to end the get-together. We thank our Lord and our Lady for everything we have received during this get-together and for all the graces poured out into our hearts.
