On Saturday, January 16th, 2016 St Augustine, Florida celebrated its annual March for Life. A group of middle school girls and the Servant Sisters in Jacksonville were able to participate in the March. The weekend started off with a holy hour and Mass at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Leche in St Augustine on Friday, January 15th. Then back in Jacksonville at the Sisters house we had dinner, a meeting, and some videos and testimonies, including a video testimony of a girl who survived an abortion and now dedicates her life to traveling and giving her testimony.

The next morning we woke up early, ate breakfast and headed back out to St. Augustine for the kick off Mass for the March at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Leche. The Mass was celebrated by Bishop Felipe Estevez, and the church was overflowing. After the Mass there was a pep rally with music, and testimonies.

One of the testimonies was a young women who had been able to reverse her abortion with the pill r42 She had gone to the abortion clinic and was given the “abortion pill” (RU486), which is a series of pills you take that abort the pregnancy. After taking the first pill her conscience left her restless and she was told by a friend about the new method of reversing the effects of this abortive pill, by receiving progesterone. She was able to receive these injections and she now has a beautiful and healthy little girl, who came up on stage with her mom at the end of the testimony. Here is a link for more information on this process:

After the rally and testimonies the March for Life started. It began on the grounds of the Shrine of Our Lady of la Leche and went through the center of St. Augustine until we all reached the town plaza in front of the Cathedral. There was a very large crowd. To end the march ex-model Leah Darrow spoke about the dignity of every human life and told her own personal conversion.

We finished the day in St. Augustine with a late lunch, shared our impressions of the day and headed back to Jacksonville. That night the girls and candidates organized a Sisters vs. girls face off in Iron Chef HM style. The challenge was to make an appetizing dish using the secret ingredient provided by the judges (the candidates)… Chili peppers in coconut crème. It was hard decision for the judges but the girls ended up taking the gold.

We ended the day with a movie, Sophie Scholl, a wonderful example of courage and faithfulness to your conscience.
