Entrance and renewal of commitments in the Home of the Mother in Guayaquil (Ecuador), January 20, 2016.
January 20th, Feast Day of Saint Sebastian, is one of the days chosen in the Home of the Mother for the entrance and renewal of the commitments of the laity. In Guayaquil, as in the rest of the Home, we are overjoyed at seeing the loyalty of the laity that renewed their commitments, as well as with the entrance of new members. Among the young people, seven entered new and twelve renewed their commitments in the HMY. As for the adults, four new members entered the Home and ten renewed their commitments.
The Act of renewal and entrance was carried out after Mass, and was attended by nearly all the members of the Home. The ceremony was presided by the image of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, which the girls and the ladies had decorated for the occasion; she was beautiful. At the end of the Eucharist, the girls took the palanquin of the Virgin Mary, which gazed at all her children, who are her gift. After singing a song, we took the image in procession and there were tears from some people whose hearts Our Mother had touched.
The party continued with songs to the Virgin Mary and a small play reenacted by the girls, in which they represented how Our Mother chooses her gift from among the many different flowers in a field.
This was how we celebrated the feast day of St. Sebastian, martyr and Patron Saint of the Home, here in Guayaquil. We pray for one another, so that the Lord may bless us all.
