Get together of families in Arkaia, Vitoria (Spain), February 20, 2016.
On Saturday, February 20th, the former curial house of Arkaia (Vitoria) once again opened its doors to welcome the members of the Home of the Mother. Every time we get together there are more people, more sons and daughters that Our Lady summons and attracts to her Home, forming a family without distinction as to age or nationality.
The day began at 11:30 a.m. with prayer in front of the Blessed Sacrament. The Lord welcomed us as a does a host, inviting us to rest in Him and be blessed by Him. We took advantage of being in the presence of the Lord to pray the Rosary, while Father Kevin heard confessions, a great opportunity to begin Lent on the right foot and prepare thoroughly for Easter!
Lunch had to be done in two shifts, because the number of children, adolescents and adults far exceeded the capacity of the room (despite having ample space).
It was a very enjoyable time. We shared food and experiences. We put names to the new faces and we shared with one another on how the Virgin Mary had brought us here, to Her Home.
The chit chat after lunch was long – as it usually is - and very comforting. We spoke about our fears and worries with regard to our children, and the Servant Sisters reminded us that they are not only our children, that the Lord also has projects and dreams for them, and that our duty as parents includes accompanying them in the way of the faith.
After lunch, the young and the not so young had a formation meeting. Sister Beatrice, patiently, answered to each of our doubts giving light to issues that affect and interest us. After a long meeting, we celebrated the Eucharist and finished the day in the same way that we had begun: In the Lord's presence.
Finally it was time to say goodbye. Certainly this moment requires a lot of time, it always seems that we would rather postpone going back home. Basically, the reason is simply this: THAT IT IS HARD TO LEAVE THE HOME OF THE MOTHER!
