Girls’ Camp in Guayaquil (Ecuador), from February 22nd to the 29th, 2016.
The fourth camp for girls of the HMY in Guayaquil (Ecuador), took place from February 22nd until the 29th, 2016. The camp slogan this year was “I prefer paradise” and was attended by 60 girls approximately, with ages ranging from 9 to 23 years old.
The camp was held in the same place as last year: Hostería Sagoato, in the province of St. Elena. In addition to games, singing and swimming in the sea, there were formation meetings, celebration of the Holy Mass and prayer time every day.
On the last night we had a meeting in which the girls shared that, what had helped them most from the camp was the excursion to the Sanctuary of St. María Blanca Estrella del Mar, in Olón. Many experienced the presence of Our Mother very strongly there. They also highlighted the vigil of the adoration of the Cross, in which we reflected on the seven words that Jesus Christ crucified pronounced. Next, each of the girls wrote a letter to Jesus and left it at the foot of the Cross as they were venerating it. It was a very moving moment for all.
Also, the girls really liked the rosary of torches that we did walking along the beach, presided by the clear presence of the Virgin Mary. For some girls this rosary caused a radical change of attitude, as we could see how the Lord was touching their souls and even the gestures in their faces changed.
Let's pray so that all the graces that the girls received during these days of camp produce fruits in their daily lives.
