Retreat for the Laity and young people from the Home of the Mother in Guayaquil (Ecuador), May 28, 2016.
For of the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, the female branch of the Home of the Mother in Guayaquil, both young people and adults, had a retreat the day before to help them have their hearts open to the action of the Bread of Life.
The retreat was short, it lasted only three hours, due to the special circumstances of recent times in the community of the Servant Sisters in Guayaquil. The retreat took place in the Condor Chapel. It began with the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament that cannot be absent in any of the Home of the Mother retreats that has as its first mission the defense of the Eucharist. There is nothing more effective than to put souls in contact with Jesus Eucharist and then let Him do everything else.
There were four short meditations given by four sisters that helped us to reflect on our own lives. The periods of silence were alternated with appropriate songs that created an atmosphere conducive to the encounter with the Lord. Two Servant Priests of the Home of the Mother were available to all so that we could go to the sacrament of reconciliation.
And finally there was a talk by Sr. Estela that helped us understand the Eucharist as a sacrifice. This put the finishing touch to this brief but fruitful retreat on the Feast of Corpus Christi.
After the retreat we spent time cleaning and decorating in the Condor Chapel and surroundings so that everything was worthily prepared for the procession of the Corpus Christi that had one of the stations in this Chapel. Adults, girls, children and Servants joined to prepare everything. God was going to make Himself present on our streets blessing everyone and we had to prepare the way for Him. That's why another group of girls and ladies went throughout the whole area reminding and inviting people to attend the procession.
The day of Corpus Christi was a bright day, and I must say, very hot, but this was not an obstacle for people to walk beside the Sacramental Lord giving their testimony of faith.
In the evening, to keep on celebrating this beautiful day, we thought of meeting in the Sanctuary of Schoenstatt at the feet of Our Mother to say the rosary and to have a meeting to share experiences of the Eucharist.
It was in this way that the Home in Guayaquil, Ecuador celebrated the festivity of Corpus Christi.
