English Camp in Loeches, Madrid (Spain), from August 1st until August 10th, 2016
From August 1st until August 10th, the Home of the Mother held an English camp for girls in Loeches, with the motto: "Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire”, from St. Catherine of Siena.
Every day the activities included English classes, games, sports, meetings, and prayers - everything in English with translation to Spanish-, and daily mass. Throughout the camp, we did the game of the apostle. One of the girls, chosen as an apostle, had to go lighting fires in the hearts without the campers noticing it. As soon as a heart caught fire, it was announced to the whole camp, it didn’t matter what activity was going on. Then we had a trial to find out who was the apostle, and another girl was chosen to start off a new round.
There were also two hikes that tested the perseverance of the girls. They all went above and beyond and were surprised at what they were capable of doing, encouraging each other with songs, games and offering small sacrifices for each other.
At the end of the camp, there was a festival in which five teams presented a song or a play on what had been learned during the days of the camp. On the last day of the camp, there were the entrances and renewals of fifteen girls into the Home of the Mother of the Youth, who made the commitment with Our Mother of leading a Christian life under Her protection. For everyone it has been a very productive encounter that has contributed to the human and spiritual growth of the campers.
