Girls’ missionary trip to Ecuador, from August 9 to September 1, 2016.
On August 9th, a group made up of 3 Servants Sisters of the Home of the Mother and 9 girls from Spain took the airplane headed to Ecuador for a mission trip. As patron saints we had the Holy Children, St. Justo and St. Pastor, patron saints of Alcalá de Henares (Spain) and as our motto we had a phrase that they lived until their own martyrdom “Go and give your life with joy”.
The trip had three stops, Chone, Playa Prieta and Guayaquil. In each of them we tried to be of service to the sisters, in order to help them however we were needed.
Throughout the whole experience, we had the constant reminder that “God cannot be outdone in generosity”, and we perceived how He “spoiled” us as we passed through each of the communities.
For all of us it has been a beautiful experience, in which we lived intensely the truth that there is more joy in giving than in receiving. The more we gave the greater the joy. It has been an encounter with those most in need, but above all it has been a personal encounter of each of us with God. When the girls shared their experiences, there was a common factor: they had discovered God in prayer; they had perceived his voice and began to see prayer as a need, keeping that daily relationship and that intimate encounter with Him alive. It had become a reality what the priest who celebrated mass for us the day we left said: “The Lord is leading you to the ‘desert’ to speak to your heart. It is not important what you do, but what the Lord will do in you”.
Without a doubt He is always the protagonist, the one who does it all, and lets us participate by his side so that we can experience the joy of giving oneself for the good of the souls.
