Tired but Happy

lafabrca1Get-together with young men from Our Lady of Loreto Parish in Guayaquil (Ecuador) on September 11, 2016.

On Sunday, September 11, we had a get-together with the young men from our parish, Our Lady of Loreto. We began with Mass at the parish in the morning, and later went to a place called the “fábrica.”

When we arrived, we had a meeting about the dangers of cell phones based on an article from “fórumlibertas.” We spoke about how it can become a real addiction. There is a study showing that a person uses his cell phone 220 times a day. If he sleeps for 8 hours, that it means he uses his cell phone 13 times an hour. We also spoke about how it breaks families apart because it isolates you from the other members. It creates a type of narcissism, looking for attention on Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, etc. Moreover, it can be a cause of distraction during study or prayer. The young men agreed with all of this, although it was difficult from some of them to admit it.

We then prayed the rosary and ate lunch. After lunch we played soccer until we got tired. Later, we played a new game called “Ultimate Frisbee.” It was difficult for some of them to learn how to throw the Frisbee, but they began to improve. The get-together ended at five o’clock in the afternoon; we were tired and happy.
