Celebration for All Saint´s day in Macael, Almeria (España), October 31st, 2016.
On Monday, October 31st, the vespers of the Solemnity of All Saint´s day, some of our heavenly friends dropped by our house in Macael to celebrate this great feast day.
There were saints from all different ages, all the way from St. Cecilia (who was a martyr during the first centuries) to our beloved St. John Paul II, as well as St. Augustine accompanied by his mother, St. Monica.
Each one of our saint friends explained a little bit about who they were and a few facts about their lives and the rest of the people at the party had to guess who they were. For example, the Quattrocchi couple explained that they were the first married couple to be beatified together and that they celebrate their feast day on the day they got married.
There were also two blood sisters from Huesca present, Nunilo and Alodia, who were unknown to most of us present at the celebration. We were also able to see St. Marta who provoked in us a certain “holy envy” for having been able to live at the same time as the Lord.
We were able to see all of these saints who decided to come and spend this very fun afternoon with us: St. Maria Micaela of the Most Holy Sacrament, St. Michael the Archangel, St. Aloysius Gonzaga, St. Joan of Arc, Laura Vicuña, St. Clare, St. José Luis Sánchez del Río, St. Isidro the Farmer and his wife St. Maria of the Cabeza.
It was a divine encounter that ended with a small snack, because the saints did not come empty handed: they showed their generosity by sharing something that they had brought with everyone. To finish off the night, there was a gift come down from heaven for each of those present in the encounter. It was a quote from a saint to encourage us all on our path to holiness.
It was a beautiful time spent together in a very simple way that helped us all grow closer to the saints and learn more about them.
We invite you all to our Heavenly Feast next year; this year was our second encounter. If you are unable to come, we encourage you to have a similar party there where you are at!
