Mother’s Day Celebration in Torrent

villabilla1Get-together for Mother’s day in Torrent, Valencia (Spain), May 7th of 2017.

Sunday, May 7th was Mother’s day here in Spain and many members of the Home of the Mother in Valencia would have loved to be in Garabandal, but for different reasons it just wasn’t possible. The Sisters in Torrent, Valencia had the great idea of organizing a small celebration in honor of our Blessed Mother. So even though we were hundreds of miles away from Garabandal, we were very united to all the members of the Home while we had our own Mother’s day celebration.

The celebration started at 9:30 AM at the Sister’s house in Torrent. A blue sky and a sunny day welcomed us all as we arrived. It was beautiful to be able to pray so early in the morning and begin Mother’s day in this way. The Sisters prepared beforehand a few small altars around the convent grounds, decorated with flowers and different fabrics. Each family then led a mystery of the rosary while the fathers of the families brought the statue of our Lady of Mt. Carmel of Garabandal to the next altar. The kids got the flowers together from each altar and went along with our Lady in the procession, close by her side.

We prayed the rosary with a lot of love for our Lady and with our whole hearts. We all had the chance to pray a part of the rosary and we felt that we were a part of those same mysteries that we were contemplating. It was beautiful, from the heart and done with the excitement and enthusiasm that a child has when he gives a present to his mother.

When we finished praying the rosary, the Sisters invited us to chocolate milk and Valencian muffins which someone had just donated to the Sisters for the special occasion. Our Blessed Mother herself took care of all the details as she usually does.

At the end, we had a small meeting where we shared graces that we had received through our Blessed Mother. Then, the Sisters gave each of us a paper with a resolution for the month of May. It was a beautiful time spent with the family in an environment of fun and prayer.

The truth is that when our Blessed Mother calls us together, we always leave with a stronger love for our Lord. This small effort that we made of going to this rosary on Mother’s day was repaid by our Blessed Mother with an increase of faith and strength in order to continue on the path towards holiness. Thank you, Mother!
