Celebration of the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Playa Prieta (Ecuador), June 23rd, 2017.
“All is yours, we are yours” is part of the consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus that took place in our school on Friday, June 23rd, the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
That day was a great and majestic day, a victory for Jesus in Holy Family School in Playa Prieta. Why? Because we have a king who is sitting on his throne: Jesus has been enthroned on a platform at the entrance of the shrine located in the middle of the school grounds.
We began the day as usual, lining up on the covered sports court and praying the morning prayers. But there was something different; the statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus was there presiding everything, the same statue which had been found under the rubble after the earthquake of April, 2016 and that had now been restored. He was up on a platform that had been prepared with much love for this day. After the morning offering, we went in procession to the entrance of the shrine, accompanied by drums and instruments. The sophomore class, who had been preparing throughout the whole week for this day, was there waiting for us.
Before we continued on with the ceremony, we had a flashback to the past. Two years ago, the sophomore class, which included Valeria and Sr. Clare as their teacher, had prepared the enthronement of the Sacred Heart of Jesus with much dedication and devotion. With Sr. Clare at the head and with the example of Valeria, they prepared everything for the Solemnity with their whole hearts.
The students prepared the case for the statue with things that they found in the school, a piece of glass, old tables, etc. They welded it together and made it look beautiful. They invented a pulley to bring the statue up to its place where He would reign over the whole entire school.
The students lined up on the court in such a way that each line was like a ray of light coming out of the shrine. There were students, parents, teacher, the Sisters and Brothers, all looking intently upon the statute of the Sacred Heart. Fr. Matthew, Servant Brother of the Home of the Mother, began the enthronement with the opening prayer. Later there was the blessing of the statue and the consecration prayer that we prayed with our whole hearts. Then came the moment that we had all been waiting for. The Sophomore class was up on the platform and started to pull the rope of the pulley which elevated the statue little by little. It was an exciting moment and everyone started to clap as they saw Jesus rise to the spot, where he will penetrate the hearts of everyone who lifts up their gaze to His.
After the applause, the music and the drums, one of the students read ejaculatory prayers to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, followed by the final prayer and the blessing. At the end, we sang a few songs together with all of our hearts. We were so happy that Jesus was finally on his throne where he can see us, nourish us, correct us, console us, and transform us. Some of the teachers even started to cry because of how beautiful the ceremony was. Jesus was touching everyone’s heart in a way that only He knows how.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, everything is yours now, we are yours. Sacred Heart of Jesus, I trust in you.
