This year the Diocese of Alcala de Henares celebrated its growing tradition of Holywins on the night of October 31. The Home of the Mother participated in the events organized by the diocese, and it has been a very enriching experience for all. We left the celebration with the conviction that holiness is certainly the winner, and that Christ is always victorious over evil and sin.
The night began with a party for the kids. Whoever wanted to, could come dressed up as a saint and take part in the games, songs, and see a representation about the woman who gives birth to a son and the seven-horned dragon who tries to snatch him away, taken from the Apocalypse. After the games, there was a procession to the Cathedral with the statues of the Virgin Mary, St. Michael, and the Resurrected Christ. There we had a time for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament for the kids. After Adoration, Mass was presided by Msgr. Juan Antonio Reig Pla. The first part of the night ended there, and the kids returned to their homes.
The youth and adults remained at the Cathedral to recite a Rosary in reparation for the offenses the Lord was going to suffer that night. After the Rosary, we had another Eucharistic Adoration and evangelization through the streets. Whoever felt moved to evangelize, went out on the streets with another person. They invited whoever they could find to go into the Cathedral and remain in the Lord's presence for a few moments. This was a very touching moment for everyone. It was impressive to see the most unlikely people open their hearts sincerely to Jesus in the Eucharist.
After evangelizing, we went out in procession with the Blessed Sacrament to the square in front of the Cathedral where a Holy Hour, with guided meditation and songs, took place. Finally, we went to a nearby school with Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. There young people had turns of adoration throughout the night to be with the Lord and make reparation for sin.
In this Holywins celebration we have seen clearly how the Lord is always victorious over evil and triumphs in the hearts of those who open up to Him sincerely and generously.
