On December 3rd, 2017, the Servant Sisters of the Home of the Mother in Torrent (Valencia) held a retreat for the lay members of the Home of the Mother as a preparation for this time of Advent.

We started the retreat at 11:00 AM. The first thing we did was open the tabernacle to pray the morning offerings to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Sacred Heart of Jesus in front of our Lord in the Eucharist. The offering was followed by Laudes and points of meditation given by one of the Sisters in order to help us pray. We finished prayer, but Jesus remained exposed during free time so that whoever wanted to could stay in the chapel and continue to pray, others had time for reflection, spiritual reading, etc.

At 12:45 we had a talk about perseverance in the spiritual life given by one of the Sisters. We saw that we have to let the Lord work in each one of us so that we can fulfill what He has planned for our lives. Sister encouraged us to take advantage of this time of Advent to open our hearts to the Lord and allow Him to do what He pleases with us. After the talk we had lunch and while we ate we listened to a homily given by Fr. Rafael, founder of the Home of the Mother.

When we finished lunch we had free time and afterwards we gathered together in the chapel to pray the Rosary to our Blessed Mother with songs. When we finished the Rosary we had a meeting in which we shared our experiences from the day and the graces we received during the retreat. It´s amazing to see how our Lord gives us graces and enlightens us as to what we must do in order to live out what He is asking of us.

Let us give thanks to the Lord for having allowed us to spend this day alone with Him and we ask Him to help us live a holy Advent.
