On Sunday, February 11, Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, we had a Retreat for the lay members of the Home of the Mother in Lumezzane, Italy. The Retreat was brief yet intense, a sign that the Lord can do a lot with little means if we just open our hearts.
The objective of the Retreat was to take a break from the daily routine to put ourselves in the Lord's presence and prepare us for Lent.
We began the Retreat with Mass at the Parish of Saint Apollonio. Afterward, back at home, there was Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament with a guided meditation on Jesus' temptations in the desert. We understood that we, too, suffer temptation and that we must pray for strength to overcome them with the Lord.
After the meditation, there was time for silence and personal prayer. Prayer ended with a brief reflection about mortification of the senses, which was a grace for many of those who were present. Following prayer, we had a group meeting in which we exchanged views and went deeper into what we had learned. We ate lunch together then concluded the retreat by praying the Holy Rosary to entrust this Lent to Our Blessed Mother in order to receive her help to live it intensely and in a spirit of true conversion.
